Superman vs. Batman

Batman v Superman, released March 25, 2016 brings us a new adventure, setting the stage for up coming Marvel films involving characters such as Aqua Man, Flash, and Wonder Woman. For those of you who love the world of Marvel Comics, you will find this movie compelling and fascinating. The story line is woven between Batman who thinks Superman should be stopped, Superman who feels Batman should be stopped, and Lex Luthor, the antagonsit wants Superman and Batman to collide, destroying themselves. Superman and Batman fight out their differences in heroism, while Lex Luthor antagonizes the man of steal (Superman), hoping to destroy him. Batman v Superman is a movie I believe young teens and adults would enjoy. The amount of depth involved in the storyline may be too sophisticated for a child. Overall, the content and language was good, making for an enjoyable film.

The Lesson

I want to share a lesson I saw in the film. Superman is out of control and needs to be reminded of what a true hero is, and what he stands for. Superman is reckless at this point, injuring and killing millions of innocent people. He is not admired in the eyes of the public, but rather ridiculed. Superman doesn't empathize with the fears and weakness of humans. As a result of Superman's downfalls Batman steps in, hoping to defeat Superman. Instead of defeating Superman once and for all Batman finds himself at a place of commonality with Superman, when he learns Superman's mother's life is in danger. Because Batman is able to relate on an emotional level with Superman's mother he is able to see Superman through a new pair of eyes.

We are sinful humans; we often loose sight of our place on this earth. We actually try to be like Superman, acting with no empathy towards others around us. Instead we judge and ridicule people in a lower line of work. People obtaining a higher position in authority may think they are better then those who possess a janitor position, for example. This mortifies me because of how wrong it is. Those people need to experience the struggles of what it's like being in the shoes of someone lower then they. We have a God who is more then capable of taking everything away from those who can't see what they have. We are like pieces of grass blowing in the wind; one day standing tall and beautiful, then the next, wiped away by a burst of wind.

Lets not be like Superman in this film.

Lets be humble and empathetic toward each other.
